Marquise is a goofy 9-year-old boy who loves the spotlight. Easily described as “Mr. Popular,” Marquise always has a new joke to tell and a fresh smile to share. As a big baseball fan, one of his favorite places to be is at bat as his friends and family watch him take a swing.
Shortly after turning eight, Marquise was diagnosed with Optic Glioma and Pilocytic Astrocytoma. Despite developing a weakness on the left side of his body, this fun-loving charmer is always looking to keep the party going.
Often the center of attention, Marquise made a wish to be a VIP celebrity for the day and host a party with all of his family, friends and classmates.
The superstar’s wish came true on a Sunday in March as two Chicago Police cars escorted Marquise and his family in a limousine to a Chicago landmark, Navy Pier. Upon arrival, police officers serving as VIP “Body Guards” walked Marquise into his exclusive pre-party hosted by corporate sponsor Build-A-Bear. The VIP and his twin brother and younger sister had a BEARY special time creating some new furry friends while celebrating his wish. In addition, Marquise’s friends were all treated to their own bears, each with a tag autographed personally by the little man of the hour.
With new bears in tow, it was on to Pump It Up for the big celebration! Over 150 Marquise fans including friends, classmates, teachers and family cheered as the guest of honor walked into the room. Marquise spent the night jumping around on giant inflatables, taking goofy photos with his friends and enjoying a yummy dinner.
