It was a great night, one where Phillip thought more about how excited and happy he was than the difficulties he faces every day as a result of being diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
Phillip’s journey started last summer when his parents learned about Make-A-Wish from a friend and then inquired to see if he was eligible. His illness is progressive and was starting to really affect his mobility.
As a big fan of WWE, Phillip was interested in meeting some of their stars, and so he was off to a Monday Night Raw event in beautiful Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.
The event was thrilling and Phillip was super excited to have a chance to meet one-one with Roman Reigns, the current WWE Intercontinental Champion. Phillip later told his mom, Melissa, that he thought Roman was very cool and that he loved meeting him.
“It was a beautiful feeling to see how the wish made him feel,” Melissa said. “We truly were able to put aside his illness and disability and just enjoy the moment.”
Though she had read many stories of other wish families and how the wish experience lifted them out of their everyday concerns, she was still anxious right up until the time he was able to meet the gracious wrestler and see her son’s reaction.
“You don’t think about anything when you are in the moment. You just feel pure happiness.”
