Amanda is a funny teenage girl from O’Fallon whom her family describes as brilliant and quick witted. In her spare time she enjoys hanging out with friends and family, watching television and playing video games.
Amanda was diagnosed End Stage Renal Disease that required a kidney transplant in June 2014. A social worker at St. Louis Children’s Hospital
referred Amanda to Make-A-Wish.
“During the wait for the kidney, having the wish to think about was nice,” her parents wrote to Make-A-Wish after Amanda’s wish. “Having to hook up to dialysis every day wasn’t fun and [the wish] gave her something to look forward to.”
Through Make-A-Wish, Amanda requested a room redecoration to transform a space in her home into the ultimate game room with a bit of Medieval flair. Make-A-Wish volunteers set to work creating the space with a new television and furniture. They also arranged for a special visit to the local GameStop for Amanda to pick out finishing touches.
“Everything about this wish was perfect,” Amanda’s family stated. “Amanda felt honored that so many people helped her through this tough time.”
