RESERVE A SPACE

With the help of volunteers throughout the state, Make-A-Wish Illinois will make over 700 wishes come true for Illinois children suffering from a life-threatening medical condition this year! Wish granters work with our wish children to help them determine their most heartfelt wish and with the staff to help make these wishes come true.

Time commitment varies, but is approximately 10 hours per month based on granting three wishes per year. This includes traveling to wish family homes, wish planning and implementation. Wish granters must have strong communication skills, and be able to respond to wish families and staff within 48 hours.  If you or someone that you know is interested in becoming a wish granting volunteer—please contact Tonisha Daniel  or 312.602.9413.

RSVP is required to each training at least five business days prior to training date. Seating is limited.  Please note we are especially in need of bilingual volunteers!

Latest Status Update

  • A special Make-A-Wish supporter recently stopped by our office to show her support by donating $50 for children with critical illnesses! After seeing a sign at a Hamra Enterprises Panera Bread, she knew she had to help. "I dropped in a quarter [that day] because I wanted to make a kid's day." At her birthday party, she and forty of her friends also helped to write cards for children about to go on their wishes. "These kids have it really hard, and they should be treated well and respected." She, in the past, has also donated to Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago and Moriah Congregation. Thank you so much for making wishes come true!
