Make-A-Wish remains focused on keeping our wish kids and families, community supporters, volunteers and employees safe. At this time, due to current medical and public guidance, and in consultation with our National Medical Advisory Council, Make-A-Wish has made the difficult decision to postpone travel-related wishes through the end of May. We are communicating directly with each wish family and their volunteer wish granters who are affected by this change.
In everything we do, we are committed to ensuring that every wish child receives their wish in a safe manner with the full life-changing impact that every child deserves.
Additionally, we are evaluating upcoming planned large events based on guidance from local, state, national and international public health organizations, including the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the World Health Organization (WHO).
We will communicate directly with anyone registered to participate in these events for any postponements or cancellations. Our website (illinois.wish.org) will also continue to be updated regularly with any event changes.
During this extraordinary time, we continue to need your support. Even while some wishes are being postponed, new wish children are qualifying for wishes on a daily basis; non-travel wishes are being fulfilled; and hundreds of wishes are being discovered and created for the coming months. Our staff and volunteers are operating at a heightened level to ensure that wish kids get to experience their transformative wish journey with minimal disruption.
We appreciate your ongoing support as we navigate new developments and we will share additional updates with you as the situation evolves.
