“ Gabrielle is one of those people who you get hooked on and her personality lights up a room. ”

Gabrielle, 16, of Plano, is an incredible young lady who has experienced many hardships throughout her cancer diagnosis. With the help of Make-A-Wish, Gabrielle was able to put aside her treatments at Lurie Children's Hospital in Chicago and fly to California to make her wish a reality.

Gabrielle has been watching Dancing with the Stars from season 1, even before her diagnosis. When she was presented with the opportunity to have her wish granted she knew exactly what it would be.

Before her wish, Gabrielle’s wish granters brought together her family and friends for a sendoff party. Getting everyone’s good wishes set the tone for a great week as Gabrielle and her family flew to California for her wish. While there, Make-A-Wish arranged for her to get the full star treatment before attending the show. Gabrielle walked the red carpet, met the stars, and got her makeup and professionally done for the event.

“As a wish granter, each wish has been so rewarding in its own way, but this wish was like no other. Gabby is a truly exceptional young woman who has been through so much at such a young age. She is so kind and so deserving,” Said Nicole, one of Gabby’s wish granters.

In addition to attending the show, Make-A-Wish was able to surprise her with a special meeting with her favorite dancer, Derek Hough, even though he was not dancing that season!

“Patti and Nicole (Gabrielle’s wish granters) went above and beyond enhancing Gabby’s wish and keeping her engaged throughout the entire process. They really put some extra special magic on this one,” said Gabrielle’s mother, Victoria.
