Living with a congenital cardiac condition is not always easy. Kodey, 9, of Harvard, is a smart, compassionate sports nut, who manages to indulge in his passion for competition as often as possible while living with his life-threatening medical condition.
With the help of local volunteers and businesses, including The RoomPlace and GameStop, Kodey’s wish for room redecoration geared solely towards his interests is coming true. The room was transformed with new furniture and some very special touches that speak right to Kodey’s favorite sports – a giant television with surround sound, a basketball-themed table and chairs featuring his favorite Golden State Warriors and lockers that display jerseys from his favorite athletes.
"Kodey's wish reveal was great!" said Laurie, one of Kodey's wish granting volunteers and a wish parent herself. "We had him blindfolded, lead b[him] down the stairs, and then took it off and his face was complete shock at first and then big smiles. He ran to each area of the room and checked it all out all while saying how awesome and cool it was."
Kodey’s mom told the local newspaper that he picked a wish he can enjoy for years to come. Though he’s a few surgeries already, there is likely to be at least one more in his future.
"It was amazing to help make his wish come true!" Laurie shared.
