Owen is an adventurous 7-year-old from Buda who loves exploring the outdoors. He enjoys going camping with his family, swinging on the swings with his friends at the park, riding around on his four wheeler and playing baseball. His favorite thing to do in the summer is to go swimming.
Owen was diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy in 2012. When he was referred to Make-A-Wish by his parents, Owen expressed his heart’s desire to swim with dolphins because dolphins swim very fast.
In January, Owen’s wish came true when he and his family flew to Florida for a visit to Discovery Cove. He was ecstatic when he arrived at the aquatic facility on his wish day. Owen and his family were able to swim with the dolphins as well as feed them.
“This was an amazing experience we were all able to enjoy,” Owen’s mom said after the wish.
The family was able to get up close and personal with dolphins and whales thanks to their front row seats at the whale and dolphin show at Sea World. While hanging out in Orlando, Owen was also able to hold and touch a baby alligator and visit the various theme parks.
"It was a stress free week – no doctors, no needles, no worries – he loved that!"
Owen spent the last day of his trip at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom where he was able to go on more rides and meet some of his favorite characters. As the night came to an end, Owen and his family enjoyed watching fire works and a light show in front of the castle.
