Olivia's Disney Cruise

wish child Olivia and her family with Mickey Mouse

“ Snorkeling around the coral reef and experiencing stingrays up close was amazing and made me even more excited to pursue a career as a marine biologist. ”

- Olivia

Fighting cancer and enduring chemotherapy was most certainly very serious and not fun for a typically adventurous and social teenager. Olivia, who loves to dance and spend time with her pets was diagnosed last year with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. A 16-year old high school student, Olivia lives with her mom in Highland, and was treated at Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital in St. Louis.

wish child Olivia and her sisterOlivia has always been fascinated with the ocean and hopes to be a marine biologist someday. This interest inspired her wish to go on a Disney Cruise, where she explore the sea, but she could also feel like a kid again.

Olivia‘s favorite part of the trip was snorkeling near a coral reef where she saw stingrays up close. She went on a beautiful bike ride around Castaway Cay Island. She saw some fantastic shows at the theater and was excited to get her picture taken with Mickey and Minnie. Most importantly, she was able to relax and enjoy some down time after fighting cancer and finishing chemo.

To Olivia, this trip was a blessing. She was touched by all the people that made her trip so memorable, meaningful and educational. She felt it to be very heartwarming to be surrounded with so much love and support.
