Kyle Explores Atlantis

Kyle's Wish to visit Atlantis

“ It’s something we will remember forever. ”

“My hope is that every Make-A-Wish child can experience the joy I did on my trip.”

Kyle is an outgoing sixteen-year-old from Aurora. Diagnosed with a brain tumor in 2013, he was referred to Make-A-Wish by a child life specialist at Cadence Health, Kyle used the opportunity to give himself and his family a much needed vacation. He chose to go to the beautiful Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.

“It was a perfect week with perfect weather. It’s something we will remember forever,” shared Debbie, Kyle’s mother.

Best FriendsBecause having his best friend there was an important part of his illness and recovery, Make-A-Wish also arranged to fly his best friend Jeremy, who had moved away a week after Kyle’s diagnosis, out from California to share in this experience. A stress-free vacation not only rejuvenated Kyle, but the entire family. Kyle‘s mother had been diagnosed with breast cancer around the same time he received his own diagnosis. They had gone through difficult treatments together, and a family trip to the Bahamas was a great way to take a break from everything.

“To give a family who is going through so much chance to smile and not worry about anything for a week, that’s really the best gift you can give,” Debbie said.
