There are few things better than watching your favorite movies come to life, and for Jaxon this dream became a reality! After months of watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and the classic Disney movies during his many hospital visits, three-year-old Jaxon traveled to Florida and met the characters in real life.
When Jaxon was born, he was diagnosed with multiple life-threatening pulmonary conditions. His life has been a series of challenges, but Jaxon is a fighter. The youngster from Yorkville is unable to move around on his own, but this does not keep him from playing with all of his favorite toys! That’s why when his family learned about Make-A-Wish® from another wish family, Jaxon wished to visit Florida’s magical theme parks.
Jaxon’s wish trip was his first vacation and his family’s first trip together. His condition needs constant monitoring, and traveling without the support of Make-A-Wish would have made a trip nearly impossible.
Jaxon’s parents said he really enjoyed the opportunity to spend a week away from hospital visits and doctor’s appointments. The whole family got together for this trip and Jaxon enjoyed his wish like a normal kid. He was so excited to meet his favorite characters and go on his first ride, Dumbo the Flying Elephant.
“Jaxon was able to ride the rides like every other kid and just enjoy the experience,” his mom said. “It was a truly magical experience and one that we will never forget.”
Following his wish trip, Jaxon’s family reports that he has been more energetic and working harder on his skills in therapy. He's on a ventilator and since being home they have been able to wean some of his settings, which prior to his trip was a difficult task.
