Heritage Harbor Hosts Sixth Annual Penguin Plunge for Make-A-Wish® Illinois
Ottawa, IL — Resolve to help area children with life-threatening medical conditions when you test your bravery along with hundreds of area Make-A-Wish supporters at the annual Penguin Plunge at Heritage Harbor Marina on Saturday, January 7, 2017.
Now in its sixth year, the Penguin Plunge challenges brave jumpers to leap into the Illinois River together while showing support and raising funds for seriously ill children in Illinois. It’s a great way for everyone – individuals, organizations and businesses – to get involved in supporting Make-A-Wish of Illinois. Do the full Plunge, or raise more money and be a Toe Dipper. New this year is Puddle Plungers, a modified plunge for children who wish to participate.
“The chill you feel is so brief, but the thrill of watching the community come together for such a great cause, will keep you warm for years to come,” explains Tammy Barry, Sales & Marketing Director for Heritage Harbor Ottawa.
The plunge, will take place on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at Heritage Harbor Marina at 1988 North 2753rd Road in Ottawa. Live music begins at 11:30 a.m. with refreshments for sale. Check in opens at Noon and plunging begins at 2 p.m. A heated tent on the boat ramp keeps participants warm before the plunge. Spectators are welcome.
