About Us

Every year, nearly 1,200 children in Illinois are newly diagnosed with a life-threatening medical condition. Make-A-Wish® believes that wishes are an important part of the overall care and treatment of these children. Each wish offers the opportunity for a joyous, life-changing experience.

  • Go behind the scenes with wish kid Kaydence, who had her wish to become an actress on TV come true as she guest starred in an all-new episode of ABC Television Network's "The Rookie." Kaydence is a 13 year-old from Mississippi who has a heart condition. Kaydence’s love for acting in community theatre led to her wish to be an actress on TV. Her sparkling personality and charisma won over the cast and crew and may lead to future acting opportunities. “The Rookie” stars Nathan Fillion, Alyssa Diaz and Richard T. Jones. Kaydence guest starred in an episode titled, “The Ride Along.” Make-A-Wish extends its thanks to ABC Television Network and Disney for their support of Kaydence’s wish as part of the Disney Team of Heroes initiative to deliver comfort and inspiration to families around the world. Beyond assisting with this wish, Disney – which owns ABC – has been a steadfast friend of Make-A-Wish for 38 years and has helped grant more than 130,000 Disney-related wishes, including the first official wish in 1980. #DisneyTeamofHeroes
